For over a century, The Myron Stratton Home has offered a comfortable, safe sanctuary for older persons with a limited income.

One and two bedroom units for couples, and one bedroom units for singles are available. Services include paid utilities, transportation to medical appointments and shopping, and an activity program. Services available on limited basis (at subsidized prices): cafeteria meal plan, housekeeping and laundry services.

Favorite Services

“My favorite service at the Myron Stratton Home is the food service. And then also the housekeeping and laundry services. I don’t know what I would have to do if I had to do my own laundry. They do an excellent job. Laundry services comes and picks up your laundry and when they’re all finished they bring it right back to you. Shirts are ironed, and come back on a hanger. Your pants, too. I tell you what, you can’t beat a deal like that. And of course the meals here are spectacular too.

I’m so comfortable here. I have my own entertainment center, and I can sit in my chair and watch TV or fall asleep right here. It’s a great life, it really is. I’m very appreciative.”

— Mr. John West began living at the Myron Stratton Home in 1938 at the age of 7 with his two older brothers, and stayed until his junior year in high school. He moved back to the Myron Stratton Home in 2008 and enjoyed his independent living cottage until he passed in 2018

General Requirements for Eligibility:

Residents must be able to live and function independently.

Financial and Age Restrictions:

Because the Home is here to serve those in need, certain income limits, similar to guidelines for HUD very low-income housing, are in place. Eligible residents are age 62 or older. For couples, at least one member must meet this age requirement.

Geographical Requirements:

Must be a registered resident of El Paso County or Teller County, Colorado and be a United States Citizen.

Income requirements:

  • Maximum income for couple: $41,600
  • Maximum income for single:  $36,400

Minimum age requirement to apply:

  • 57 years of age

If you meet the above requirements you are eligible to go on our waiting list. 

  • The Myron Stratton Home is a tobacco free campus. 
  • There is a $300 non-refundable pet deposit if you have a pet of any kind. 
  • There is a $500 minimum deposit on your cottage or apartment.
